DIY: Turn Trash into Trash Bins

If you aren’t already living in Cagayan de Oro and are considering buying a house and lot for sale there, you should know that the City Government is currently working on addressing the issues regarding waste disposal to further improve the CDO experience. After all, it is still the most progressive first-class city in the Visayas region.

So how can you play a part in helping to deal with the issue and improve your home at the same time? Turn garbage into gold! Specifically, turn garbage into garbage bins.

If you don’t know how to dispose old magazines and cardboard boxes, don’t worry—you can repurpose them and turn them into stylish bins.

You just first need to cut them into strips and then roll them up, pasting them as you go so that the rolls never unfold as illustrated below.

Keep making these small rollups. One you have enough, try joining them together to form a shape.

You can roll them as tightly as pictured or you may roll them a little more loosely for effect—totally up to you. If you’re using cardboard, chances are, you’d end up with a monotone design. If you used magazines, however, you’ll get a much colorful outcome. Just glue section together until it forms a bin; you may also use an actual bin to adjust for the curve. You should end up with something like this:

For the bottom, make a very long strip that you roll up and add more strips to until you make a cardboard or magazine rollup that enough to cover the bottom of your bin. This will not only make for an interesting bin, it could also be an interesting dialogue piece for visitors to your house and lot in Cagayan de Oro.

If you think that this would take too long to make and you have a 3- or 4 -legged stool that you’re going to throw out anyway, you can repurpose that just by flipping it over and placing a plastic catch in the middle!

If you’re interested in buying a house and lot that’s for sale in Cagayan de Oro, it would be prudent to start thinking about the environment and start getting hands-on with this DIY.
